Your pay at NCHA
It’s a bit unusual, but payday is the 15th of each month. It’s just how we do things around here. If the 15th falls on a weekend or bank holiday, payday will be the Friday before.
This means that we get paid two weeks in advance and two weeks in arrears, because when you’re paid, it’s for the whole of that month.
Pay slips and bank details
We’ll need your bank details for us to pay you and we’ll ask you to input these into the colleague self service portal on your first day, once you’ve completed everything on the things to do page.
We don’t do paper pay slips - these and your P60s are saved in the secure online colleague self service portal which you can access, view and print if needed.
If you have a P45 please upload it (scan or take a picture) on the things to do page. If you don’t have one, please complete the HMRC form which is also on the things to do page and email it to payroll@ncha.org.uk - otherwise we’ll have to apply an emergency tax code.
Overtime and expenses
If you work in a job where overtime is approved (we call it additional hours), this is paid in arrears. So additional hours worked in one month are paid the following month (provided you get your claim in and authorised by your manager on time).
Deadlines for payroll are published on our intranet each month. If you work additional hours then just talk to your manager about how to claim for these. It’s all done on our colleague self service portal and pretty easy once you’ve been shown how to do it.
If you have any work-related expenses, these can be submitted for approval by your manager through the same colleague self service portal. Claims made by 31st of the month are then reviewed by your manager and, if approved, will be paid at the beginning of the following month.
Because we recognise that starting a new job and changing pay dates can be tricky, you may be able to get an advance on your pay if you feel you’ll struggle to wait until payday. If you’d like to apply for this, complete and return the Request for Pay Advance form which you can find in the things to do page.
There’s a detailed pay policy which you can read when you get here. This along with all our colleague policies are on our intranet.
