Mum of three escapes badly managed flat

Alina is a passionate woman from Romania who has been living in Nottingham for the last eight years with her three children.

Their rented two-bedroom flat was cramped, poorly maintained and managed, causing her and the children ill health. Bills were extremely high and they were having major maintenance issues every few months. Alina was desperate to secure her and her family a brighter and healthier future.

Alina had a small amount of money saved and decided to start looking for help to buy and shared ownership properties locally so that her children could remain in their school. In January 2021, she started looking online and found our development on Morley Avenue. They decided to jump in the car and drive to the site to take a look. On arriving at the building site, she knew instantly that was where she wanted them to be.

It took some work, but eventually with her passion and determination to find somewhere to call home for her and the children, she received a call from Dean at NCHA to confirm they had been selected for a three-bedroom shared ownership home. Alina screamed with joy with the news and ensured, with the support of Dean, that they would be the first to exchange and move in, which they did in early July.

The family have now settled into their new home and love everything about it. The girls even have their own bedroom. They would certainly recommend shared ownership to others, and the oldest daughter is even considering it herself for when she finishes university.

We enjoyed meeting Alina and her family and hearing about her previous challenges. She is an ambitious lady who works hard for her family. Sales Negotiator Dean from NCHA helped her every step of the way with the purchase of their new home but he also encouraged her to apply for a position within NCHA, which she has since gone on to achieve.
