Update for customers with storage heaters

Energy suppliers are switching over meters on 25 June 2025

From 25 June 2025, please note that some older electricity meters will stop working as energy suppliers are moving customers across to new meters. This will specifically impact customers who have storage heaters.

If this applies to you, your energy provider should be in touch to let you know any steps you need to take. It’s your energy provider’s job to upgrade your meter for free, so please look out for a message from them and accept your upgrade to make sure your electricity keeps working properly.

If you’re concerned that you may have been missed for an upgrade, give your electricity supplier a call.

If your electricity stops working unexpectedly on or around the above date, you’ll need to contact your energy supplier to ask if you’ve been affected by meter changes.

Although our NCHA engineers can give you some pointers, your energy provider is the only one who can fix this issue if it happens.

It’s worth checking if you have any storage heaters in your home and asking your energy supplier if you’re unsure (before 25 June 2025) to make sure you’re on the right type of meter.

You can learn more about this on the Ofgem (energy regulator)’s website.
