Farnborough Court recruits from local area

Meet Kirstie, new Scheme Officer at Farnborough Court

We’re delighted to welcome Kirstie as Scheme Officer for Farnborough Court, our new Independent Living for Older People (ILOP) in Clifton.

At NCHA, we’re committed to building not just homes but thriving communities, so we’re delighted that she brings a unique local connection to her role. Kirstie, who lives just down the road in Clifton, is one of NCHA’s first recruits from the surrounding area. Her journey to the role began when her partner spotted the job advert while searching for a flat for his dad. He immediately thought she’d be perfect for the position, and Kirstie agreed:

“I just thought it sounded like a great place to work, and the location is really helpful to fit around childcare. I live really close, and I’ve been driving past for years, watching the old college knocked down and the new buildings come up. I had no idea this big community was being built — let alone that I’d one day work here!”

Having been out of work for a while, Kirstie is relishing the new challenge. She’s been in post for a few weeks and is eagerly preparing to welcome residents into their new homes.

“I’m really happy here already. This is going to be such an inclusive community; a really lovely space for people to live. I love bringing people together and making them happy. I’m a very creative person and can’t wait to get stuck in planning activities and events. I’m even going to be doing a spot of light maintenance — they’ve given me my own toolbox … so watch out!”

Kirstie’s local knowledge is already proving invaluable. She knows the area, its history, local services, and even some of the new residents moving in. In fact, one resident is especially close to home — her father-in-law has secured a flat and is excited to settle in.

“He’s really excited knowing I'll be around, and as for me, well, I can’t wait for everyone to move in so we can get going! It’s going to be great.”

By recruiting locally, NCHA is not only supporting employment within the community but also ensuring that residents are welcomed by someone who truly understands the area. Kirstie’s passion and local insight will undoubtedly help make Farnborough Court a warm, vibrant, and connected place to live.

We can’t wait to see this new community grow and thrive when residents move in next month.
