Employability courses for customers
We’re pleased to offer new employability support and training opportunities for NCHA customers.
Delivered through our Community Support team, you can register to complete one of our two employability training programmes to help boost your career, CV and interview skills.
Live and Learn training course
‘Live and Learn’ is geared towards people who are looking to add to their qualifications. By successfully completing this course, you’ll achieve a City and Guild Award, which can be used to strengthen your CV and support job applications.
This programme is accessible for a range of capabilities. There are 85 modules to choose from which cover everything from communication, financial skills and healthy living to interview skills and applying for a job (etc.).
Your work will be moderated by Access Training, which we co-own.
We offer one-to-one coaching sessions (by phone). You’ll get a user-friendly workbook to guide you through the course. It’s a distance learning programme, so there’s no need to attend training sessions in person. Once you’ve been inducted, you can start work on your units with our support.
Take 5 training course
‘Take 5’ is designed for people who are developing independent living skills. It’s also appropriate for anyone who wants a recognised framework to showcase your skills and share your knowledge.
This course was initially developed to support young people, people with mental health issues or people with learning difficulties. We’ve now revised the curriculum to ensure the format is beneficial for anyone who’s looking to grow and develop their everyday life skills.
Through the modules, you’ll produce evidence of your learned or existing life skills to help you work towards independent living. Support is available, with telephone coaching sessions if needed.
Aligning with the National Outcomes and Standards Framework for Local Communities, there are 50 modules to choose from, which are mapped into the following headings:
- Be healthy
- Stay safe
- Enjoy and achieve
- Make a positive contribution
- Achieve economic wellbeing.
You can choose the level and number of modules you do. You’ll get an NCHA certificate for successfully completing the course.
