90% of our homes are EPC C or above

We’ve been working away at a big programme of works to improve the energy performance of our homes.

We always make sure that the new homes we build are energy efficient, good for the planet and good for our customers’ budgets – but some of our existing older homes need a little bit of help to increase their efficiency.

Our ‘Retrofit’ team have been working on a solution, arranging for improvements to make these less energy efficient homes warmer, cheaper to run and less impactful on the environment.

Over 90% rated EPC C and above

All homes are granted an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating to identify how energy efficient the home is (‘A’ being most efficient to ‘G’ as least efficient). We’re delighted to share that 90.11% of our homes are now rated EPC C or above.

This is a huge milestone in our environmental sustainability pledge to tackle fuel poverty by keeping homes warmer for longer and reducing energy costs.

Pelham Architects have also been central to the programme as they have now submitted planning applications for over 230 homes and over 13 local authority planning areas, from Amber Valley and Bassetlaw down to Northamptonshire.

Our target for 2030

The housing sector has a government target to ensure all of our homes reach EPC C by 2030 (with some exclusions). We plan to meet this target by continuing to insulate existing homes and building efficient new homes.

Chris Pryke-Hendy, Head of Sustainability at NCHA, said: “Reaching this target is not going to be straight forward, but it is absolutely the right thing to do.

"We have the best teams in place, and we’re fully committed to reaching the goal. I look forward to the day when we can say that all of our customers live in an energy efficient home.”
