Ready for the general election?

A general election has be called for Thursday 4 July 2024.

The outcome will have an affect on us all, so we encourage everyone to have their say, and place their vote.

Ensure your right to vote by checking:

Are you registered to vote?

Check you’re already registered to vote here.

The deadline to register to vote has now passed (18 June 2024).

Have you got Photo ID?

You now need an accepted form of photo ID to place your vote. Without this, you’ll be turned away.

You’re likely to already have an accepted form of photo ID, but you can double check the list of eligible forms of ID in advance to make sure that you don’t miss out on your chance to vote.

Don’t have ID? Apply for free voter ID now

If you don't have accepted photo ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate.

The deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate to vote on 4 July is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024. Apply here.

Can’t make it to the polling station on polling day? Apply for a postal vote

If you know that you won’t be able to get to the polling station on polling day, you can vote by post.

The deadline for applying for a postal vote has now passed (19 June).
