OK Each Day
A new service offering ‘peace of mind’
A new service is being rolled out across our independent living for older people schemes (ILOPs), providing support to our customers and peace of mind to their families.
Following last year’s highly successful pilot, we’re thrilled to roll out this support system to all customers in our ILOP schemes for people aged 55 and over.
The ‘OK Each Day’ service, delivered by Alertacall, features a tablet in each customer’s home, with a button to press – at a time of their choosing – to confirm that they’re ok.
OK Each Day
Customers on the pilot reported they loved the option to check-in each day, and at a time that worked for them. Feelings of safety and general wellbeing were boosted, knowing that someone was there if they needed them.
As part of the service, if a customer doesn’t press the ‘OK Each Day’ button within the agreed time, Alertacall attempt a wellbeing call. If they can’t get in touch, it’s then escalated to the Scheme Manager, or our Customer Wellbeing team. Any significant concerns are then raised with customers’ emergency contact.
Following the trial, 100% of participating customers reported that they felt safe, or safer with the check-in service. One customer said: “It gives me piece of mind. I know it’s there and it’s easy to use. My family are really pleased I’ve got it.”
Additional features allow customers to request a phone call at the press of a button, and they can even use the service to send messages and report things like repair requests. A two-way conversation feature allows customers to also receive messages and reminders and offer feedback.
The pilot was a resounding success, with customers reporting 94% satisfaction with the installation, ease of use and customer service.
Another customer said: “Knowing that there is someone there all the time, it’s like having a safety net.”
Next steps
The service is being currently rolled out, and will be available in all our ILOP schemes within the next few months.
The service will be completely free to customers. The tablets are gifted, and service fees are covered by Housing Benefit, Universal Credit or a subsidy from Alertacall themselves.
