Remembering Grenfell Tower
It’s been seven years since the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in London claimed the lives of 72 people. The impacts from this tragedy have changed the landscape of fire safety in the UK beyond recognition, and it continues to inform how we, as a housing association, manage fire safety for our customers.
The Building Safety Act
Recent changes to the Building Safety Act are a major step forward in building and fire safety. We’re following all recommendations to the letter, to ensure safer living environments for our customers.
Steps we’ve taken towards improving safety within our own buildings include:
- We’ve registered all of our high-rise buildings (those that are at least seven storeys tall) with the ‘Building Safety Regulator’. One benefit to residents in these home, is access to important fire safety information and risk assessments. This information can be downloaded by scanning QR codes in some communal areas.
- Holding regular consultation with our customers, to listen to their views and give them the opportunity to influence the way their building is managed.
