Meet Patricia
Our Customer Journey Award winner
At last month’s Better Lives Awards, we celebrated Patricia’s journey.
It’s an inspiring story of a lady who’d been through some tough times, but thanks to her resilience - and a little support from NCHA - she’s now in a much better place.
Sharron Frost, Communities Team Leader, explains why she nominated Patricia:
“Patricia was housed by NCHA due to a sad set of circumstances; her and her daughter were asked to leave their previous home of many years by a private landlord that needed to sell the property. Patricia was in a situation where she was losing her sight and moving meant she would be left on her own with limited sight. We found Patricia a lovely bungalow, but at the first check in she was very upset, adjusting to a new home and missing her daughter.
“After a few months of visiting her and some support from the Community Support team, Patricia adapted really well. She started to spruce up the place, doing her own DIY, making cabinets for her lounge and doing her garden. It was fantastic to see that she had overcome obstacles and started to really feel like this was her home.
“Watching Patricia becoming this confident, independent person really will never leave me. She is the kindest person I think I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I feel lucky we have been able to help and support her through her journey.”
Patricia’s story is a fantastic example of why we do the work we do, helping to support Better Lives, and giving people the help and support they need to get back on their feet.
We wish Patricia all the best in her new home.
