Rescuing homes from the threat of sale
The Bennett family has a long history with their home in Ollerton dating back to 1938. Thanks to NCHA, Mr and Mrs Bennett have now lived there for 47 years and counting.
In 1988, we rescued 895 ex-British Coal Board homes from the threat of sale to private developers or less established housing providers. Located in north Nottinghamshire, we did plenty of work to refurbish the homes. This included adding new kitchens, bathrooms and heating systems, proving security and comfort for generations to come.
As part of the deal to purchase the homes, we were required to have a local presence in the community. We opened an office on Ollerton High Street in 1989. The local team have now moved to offices in Edwinstowe, but continue to support the people of these ex-mining communities.
