The beginning
On 1 April 1973, Andrew Malone, our founding Chief Executive, set up Nottingham Community Housing Association. Armed with a £12,000 grant from Shelter and a £500,000 loan from Nottingham City Council, he pledged to provide the city with 100 affordable homes that year.
Fifty years and 10,000 homes later, we’re still true to our original purpose. We provide homes where people want to live and support to help people to improve their lives.
In our 50 year history, we’ve only had three chief executives:
- Andrew Malone, 1973–2007
- Mike Andrews, 2007–2017
- Paul Moat, 2017–present.
Andrew Malone was awarded an OBE for his work with NCHA and in the wider social housing sector.
Sadly Andrew past away before we celebrated our 50th birthday with an exhibition at Nottingham Contemporary. During the event we remembered his contribution to NCHA.
